The iPhone 5 is imminent. Apple’s shipping times on the iPhone 4 are already slipping, and according to Cult of Mac’s own release timeline, it’ll be announced as early as September 21st and ship on October 7th.

That gives us a pretty good idea when the iPhone 5 will be released, but that still leaves a lot of questions. How fast will the iPhone 5 be? Will the iPhone 5 support 4G and/or LTE speeds? Will the iPhone 5 have a bigger display?How much storage will the iPhone 5 have? Will the iPhone 5 be a world phone? Will the iPhone 5 have a capacitive home button? And so on.

We think we know. Here’s our best guess based on the rumors so far and what Apple has done in the past exactly what the iPhone 5 will look like once it is released.

Steve Jobs might not be as charitable as Bill Gates but Apple’s trying to improve its image when it comes to charity by instituting a great new employee policy: they’ll now match all of their employees’ charitable contributions up to $10,000 a year.

Disgruntled video editors who were unsatisfied with their Final Cut Pro X purchase earlier this year seem to have turned to Adobe’s products instead. The company’s video tools for Mac have seen a 45% growth year-over-year, undoubtedly thanks to the fiasco that surrounded Apple’s latest Final Cut following its release.

For those concerned Android was catching up with Apple’s iPad, JPMorgan analyst Mark Moskowitz has this message: stop your worrying. “Beyond the iPad, there has not been another high-volume tablet offering, yet,” he told investors Thursday. When one does, don’t look to Mountain View, but Microsoft for a credible Apple competitor.

The school year has begun, and students everywhere are starting to hit the books. For the busy student, keeping track of one’s academic schedule is essential.

The Galaxy S is outselling the iPhone in this tech-obsessed Asian nation.

Dying to get your hands on an iPad 2 before the weekend? Don’t order one from the Apple online store, then, because a whole host of Apple’s gadgets have had their shipping times mysteriously extended.

Mac OS X Lion adds a new feature that helps your Mac recover from crashes or freezes. I’m not sure how well it works since my Macs don’t crash all that often, but Apple built it into Mac OS X Lion so I might as well use it.

Wait, is this a joke?

The people responsible say no, but still: I have my doubts.

Every time some company ships a touch tablet, the press immediately compares it to the Apple iPad.

“Motorola Xoom Android Tablet May Be First iPad Killer,” enthused MSNBC.com back in January.

As it becomes clear that Amazon’s long-awaited tablet is really an Android-based Kindle optimized for buying things from Amazon.com, some headlines are suggesting that it’s not a competitor to the iPad after all, but just a glorified eBook reader.

“No Worries, iPad, Amazon’s Android Tablet Is Just a Nook-Killer,” said Forbes.com.

These headlines have it all wrong. The upcoming Amazon tablet not only competes directly against the iPad, it’s the only tablet that does so.

No other company besides Apple and Amazon are selling tablets as part of a larger strategy to control the future of music, movies, TV shows, books and more.

Parliamentarians in Western Australia demanded a trial of Apple’s tablet computer, waging the kind of epic battle between users and the IT department that happens in companies around the globe.

The lawmakers it so badly 15 of them threatened “industrial action” if iPads were not allowed on the list of devices for their laptop allowance after being told by the ICT gurus that the device did not yet meet existing IT infrastructure or security standards.

Let’s face it: If you have an iPhone 4, you need a battery case. Unless all you’re doing with your iPhone is using it as a $600 mirror.
Luckily there’s no shortage of choice — so we’ve assembled a collection of promising candidates and put them through their paces, the results of which we’ll be revealing in the next few days.

The saga of the lost iPhone 5 prototype continues, with the SFPD beginning an internal investigation on the police’s involvement with Apple security in recovering the lost device.

While it was originally thought that Apple security impersonated the police in an attempt to recover the prototype, the SFPD then came out saying that officers did in fact assist Apple in the investigation.

Adobe has announced that it will add support for the iOS 5 Newsstand to its Digital Publishing Suite. This will provide an easy way for publishers to take advantage of the delivery system that Apple has established in the Newsstand iOS 5 app.

Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite customers will be able to deliver high quality content optimized for iOS right to the virtual doorstep of Newsstand subscribers.

Apple’s been keeping the venerable iPod Classic on life support for years without changing a thing, but now, Apple Bitch says shipping times are starting to slip in Europe, implying a very uncharacteristic lack of availability for a very out-of-demand product.

Does that mean Apple’s about to kill off the Classic once and for all? At the Classic’s current capacity, there’d be no reason to keep it around anymore if Apple just doubles the maximum capacity of the next-gen iPod Touch.

That said, I suppose Apple could always surprise us and cram a 320GB or 500GB drive into the Classic for the customers who just have to walk around with a hundred years’ worth of CD quality music in their jeans pocket.

We’ll have to wait and see, but if I had to guess, I’d say the Classic dies and a 128GB iPod Touch takes its place.

Today Adobe unveiled Carousel, a new service for the Mac and iOS that lets photographers access and edit their photos in the cloud on all devices.

With Carousel, Adobe is trying to make the problem of photo management disappear.

To commemorate the redesign of Stylelist.com, AOL commissioned Gin Lan to create this amazing display at Sak’s Fifth Avenue store featuring 64 iPad 2s, flanked on both sides by nine 27-inch Apple cinema displays… all streaming live content from Stylelist’s site and its official Twitter feed.
