60 Minutes viewers will get an early Christmas present this Sunday, as presenter Charlie Rose gets a rare peak inside Jony Ive’s design studio, while also receiving a tour of “Apple’s store of the future” from retail guru Angela Ahrendts.

The segment, which will air Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on CBS, is one of very few glimpses we’ve had inside Ive’s design world at Apple — despite the fact that the company has been a bit more willing to open its doors to reporters since Steve Jobs’ death in 2011.
Charlie Rose, in particular, seems to be fast becoming to in-depth Apple interviews what Walt Mossberg is to product reviews: the “go to” guy the company keeps on speed-dial.
Rose notably interviewed Tim Cook around this time last year (part one of the interview can be seen here, while part two is here) — during which Apple’s CEO memorably stated that “you are not our product,” describing Apple’s approach to data mining and user privacy.
It’s unlikely that Jony Ive will have left a prototype Apple Car or iPhone 7 lying around for his 60 Minutes appearance, but this should still be a fascinating peak behind the curtain for Apple watchers.
